5 Calibration with
SIMATIC PDM
Prerequisites for calibration with
SIMATIC PDM
The Level Gauge Uni-Probe LB 490 has to be installed and con-
nected correctly (see Volume 2, sections 2 and 3).
SIMATIC PDM and the Uni-Probe Device Description must be
installed and configured correctly (see Volume 5, section 3.2
and 3.3).
The SIMATIC PDM software has to be started and the device to
be calibrated must be open in the user mode Specialist (see
page 5–438).
5.1 Preparing Calibration
For correct calibration of the measuring system, you have to ensure
that the detector and basic settings of the Uni-Probe are correct.
First operation of the system:
Set the basic parameters for the Uni-Probe (see page 5–494).
Calibration of a system that has already been taken into opera-
tion:
If you are sure that the detector and basic configuration of the
Uni-Probe is correct, you can start with the calibration of the mea-
suring system immediately as described in section 5.2.
Otherwise proceed as follows:
If a password has been defined for the PDM in the user status
Specialist, revoke the password protection (see page 5–438).
Unlock the Uni-Probe if it has been locked by a password (see
page 5–518).
Reset the Uni-Probe to the factory settings (see page 5–492).
Set the parameters for the detector (see page 5–493).
Set the basic parameters for the Uni-Probe (see page 5–494).
