4.10 Replacing the Digital Board
IMPORTANT
Since all parameters are stored on the digital board of the electron-
ics module, you have to re-enter all parameters after you have
replaced the digital board. If you still have access to these param-
eters prior to the replacement, note them down so you can enter
them later into the new electronics. In the other case, the Uni-
Probe has to be parameterized and calibrated new. Please read the
respective volume describing how to proceed.
Explosion hazard!
Spare parts for detectors used in hazardous areas may only be
installed by BERTHOLD TECHNOLOGIES service personnel or by
persons authorized by BERTHOLD TECHNOLOGIES. If this is not
possible, the complete detector has to be replaced or returned to
the manufacturer for repair.
Connect yourself to ground potential (use a grounded wrist strap)
to avoid damage caused by electrostatic discharge.
Dismantle the electronics module as described on page 2–222.
Separate both flat ribbon cables from the digital board (7)
(see page 2–232).
Unscrew the plastic cover (8).
Unscrew both pcb fixtures (9).
Pull digital board from fixture.
Mount the new digital board in reverse order.
Remove the device numbers on the Uni-Probe and in the elec-
tronics housing and replace them by the new numbers sup-
plied.
You find the device numbers on white labels with a two, three
or four-digit number. The inscription reads: “Dev. ID XXXX”.
Install the electronics module in the Uni-Probe as described on
page 2–223.
Set the software parameters again using the list you have
noted down earlier. See also Volume 3 on page 3–295.
Separate User’s Manuals are available for user interfaces such
as SIMATIC PDM or FOUNDATION
Fieldbus.
This completes the replacement of the digital board.
