4.6 Replacing the Electronics Module
Removal and installation of parts of the Uni-Probe must be carried
out in a clean workshop environment.
The electronics module has to be dismantled if one of the following
parts has to be exchanged:
• Electronics module (see page 2–222)
• Digital board (see page 2–231)
• Power supply (see page 2–234)
• Crystal-multiplier assembly for detectors (see page 2–225)
• Multiplier for rod detector (see page 2–227)
• Plastic scintillator (see page 2–229)
In point detectors the electronics is dismantled together with the
crystal-multiplier assembly. In rod detectors the electronics is dis-
mantled together with the multiplier.
4.6.1 Dismantling the Electronics Module
Since all parameters are stored on the digital board of the electron-
ics module, you have to re-enter all parameters after you have
replaced the electronics module. If you still have access to these
parameters prior to the replacement, note them down so you can
enter them later into the new electronics. In the other case, the
Uni-Probe has to be parameterized and calibrated new. Please read
the respective volume describing how to proceed.
Explosion hazard!
Spare parts for detectors used in hazardous areas may only be
installed by BERTHOLD TECHNOLOGIES service personnel or by
persons authorized by BERTHOLD TECHNOLOGIES. If this is not
possible, the complete detector has to be replaced or returned to
the manufacturer for repair.
Document all software parameters of the installed Uni-Probe.
Disconnect the Uni-Probe from mains.
Disconnect the Uni-Probe and relay contacts from power.
Unscrew the housing cover (M32 screw wrench).
Remove grounding cable (1).
Unscrew two nuts M8 (2).
