6.2 Conditions for Empty Calibration
IMPORTANT
The Uni-Probe LB 490 should be turned on at least 30 minutes prior
to commissioning
For empty calibration, all shielding containers of the measuring
system must be mounted.
The source shutter must be open.
The tank should be empty or filled no higher than the lowest
point of the measuring range (Min).
If the tank is partially filled, e.g. 20%, the lower calibration
point can be adjusted provisionally.
Prerequisite is that you know the exact actual level. In this
case, the value corresponding to this calibration point is to be
entered as the level reading. In doing so, an error may occur at
0%. Proper empty adjustment should be conducted as soon as
possible.
IMPORTANT
Empty calibration, particularly for high-pressure tanks, must be
conducted under the same conditions as operation (pressure, tem-
perature).
If a heating or cooling jacket is present, it must be filled with the
operational medium at operational temperature. Then an empty
calibration is performed for which the initial level value is entered
as a percentage and the corresponding count rate is entered.
If deposits gather along the sides during operation, empty calibra-
tion should be conducted periodically.
The tank must be emptied and clean, so that no residue
remains in the tank.
