Chapter 16: Load Controllers
Load Controller Auxiliary Options
Expansion port overview
The expansion port on the load controller units allows connection for auxiliary functions such as additional outputs, servo
throttle output, over temperature input and manual throttle control (potentiometer).
DTec have a ‘Breakout Board’ for convenience with screw type terminals to provide
for easy connection. Alternatively you can wire up your own connector using the
information below for the 'DE-9' socket (9 pin serial) on the side of the load controller
case (either our EC or PC controller).
Expansion port connection details
Pins numbered looking into Load Controller unit (LC DE9 Connector)
DE9 pin # Breakout label Function
2 cha 0 Throttle analogue input (0-5V)
3 cha 1* PWM output for suitable retarders (can be filtered into an analogue output)
4 cha 2 Auxiliary output 2 (active hi, 30mA max), for solid state relay
5 cha 3 Auxiliary output 1 (active hi, 30mA max), for solid state relay
9 cha 4 Throttle Servo output (servo pulse code 1000-2000us), noise filtered (Breakout)
1 cha 5 Over temperature warning (for thermal switch- normally closed to ground)
6 ref- Ground
7 ref- Ground
8 5V 5V (50mA max)
*NOTE: Channel 1 is for PWM Load Controllers only, not eddy current Load Controllers (PC, not EC units).
