3.9 Setting the Graft Control Parameters
This section describes how to set control parameters of the PIM-DM Graft messages.
3.9.1 Establishing the Configuration Task
3.9.2 Setting the Interval for Retransmitting Graft Messages
3.9.3 Checking the Configuration
3.9.1 Establishing the Configuration Task
Applicable Environment
On a PIM-DM network, if State-Refresh is not enabled, the pruned interface can forward
messages only after the status times out. If State-Refresh is enabled, the pruned interface may
not be restored to forward packets.
To enable new members on a network to quickly receive multicast data, the S9300 that runs
PIM-DM sends a Graft message through an upstream interface. The upstream device is requested
to forward multicast data to this network segment. After receiving the Graft message, the
upstream device immediately replies a Graft-Ack message and restores the interface that receives
the Graft message to forward messages.
S9300s configured with default values can work normally. You can change the values of relevant
parameters according to the specific network environment. If there is no special requirement,
default values are recommended.
