3.7.1 Establishing the Configuration Task
3.7.2 Setting the Forwarding Control Parameters
3.7.3 Setting the Prune Control Parameters
3.7.4 Checking the Configuration
3.7.1 Establishing the Configuration Task
Applicable Environment
When the last group member leaves, an S9300 sends a Prune message to the upstream interface,
requesting the upstream S9300 to perform the prune operation and to stop forwarding multicast
data. If other downstream S9300s exist in this network segment, they must send Join messages
to override the prune operation.
S9300s configured with default values can work normally. You can change the values of relevant
parameters according to the specific network environment. If there is no special requirement,
default values are recommended.
Pre-configuration Tasks
Before setting the parameters for controlling the forwarding, complete the following tasks:
l Configuring the unicast routing protocol to ensure that IP routes between nodes are
reachable
l 3.4 Configuring Basic PIM-DM Functions
Data Preparation
To set the parameters for controlling the forwarding, you need the following data.
No.
Data
1 Delay for transmitting Prune messages
2 Duration for overriding the prune operation
3 Holdtime of the Prune state
4 Interval for sending Prune messages
3.7.2 Setting the Forwarding Control Parameters
Context
The forwarding control parameter can be configured globally or on an interface.
l The global configuration is valid for each interface.
