l Reducing the network delay by directly searching the multicast forwarding table to transmit
multicast packets
Multicast VLAN Replication
Through replication of a multicast VLAN, the S9300 can send multicast packets to different
VLANs. This function facilitates management and control of the multicast source and members
of multicast groups, and saves bandwidth.
IGMP Snooping
The S9300 supports VLAN-based IGMP snooping. You can set the following parameters or
functions of IGMP snooping:
l IGMP version
l Multicast forwarding mode
l Static router interfaces
l Disabling dynamic learning of router interfaces
l IGMP querier
l Response to changes in the Layer 2 network topology
l Prompt leave of member interfaces
l Suppression of IGMP messages
l Multicast group policies
l Aging time of a router interface
l Maximum response time of multicast members
l Router alert option
l Source IP address of IGMP messages
When providing layer 3 multicast services, the S9300 can forward multicast packets according
to the layer 2 inbound interface of a super VLAN. After the IGMP snooping function is enabled
in a sub VLAN, the S9300 selects a layer 2 interface according to the inbound interface in the
IGMP Report message sent by a host. In this way, the S9300 forwards the packets from the
multicast source to this interface, rather than broadcasting the packets in the sub VLAN.
