Run the display pim control-message counters command, and you can view the number of
PIM control messages.

4.11 Setting the Assert Control Parameters
This section describes how to set parameters for controlling the PIM-SM Assert messages.
4.11.1 Establishing the Configuration Task
4.11.2 Setting the Period for Keeping the Assert State
4.11.3 Checking the Configuration
4.11.1 Establishing the Configuration Task
Applicable Environment
On the PIM-SM network, when an S9300 receives multicast data through the downstream
interface, the S9300 learns that other upstream S9300s exist on the network segment. The
S9300 sends an Assert message through the downstream interface to take part in the election of
the unique upstream device.
S9300s configured with default values can work normally. You can change the values of relevant
parameters according to the specific network environment. If there is no special requirement,
default values are recommended.
Pre-configuration Tasks
Before setting the Assert control parameters, complete the following tasks:
l Configuring the unicast routing protocol to ensure that IP routes between nodes are
reachable
l 4.4 Configuring Basic PIM-SM Functions
Data Preparation
To set the Assert control parameters, you need the following data.
