4.4.5 (Optional) Configuring Dynamic RP Election
Context
CAUTION
This configuration is applicable only to dynamic RPs. If you want to use only static RPs in this
network, skip this configuration.
Do as follows on S9300s in the PIM-SM domain.
Procedure
Step 1 Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
Step 2 Run:
pim
The PIM view is displayed.
Step 3 Run:
c-rp interface-type interface-number [ group-policy basic-acl-number | priority
priority | holdtime hold-interval | advertisement-interval adv-interval ]

A C-RP is configured.
l interface-type interface-number: specifies the interface of the C-RP. PIM-SM must be
enabled on this interface. On the S9300, VLANIF interfaces and loopback interfaces can be
configured as C-RPs.
l group-policy basic-acl-number: indicates that the C-RP serves only the multicast group
allowed by ACL. basic-acl-number specifies the number of a basic ACL. By default, the C-
RP serves all multicast groups.
l priority priority: specifies the election priority of the C-RP. A greater value of priority
indicates a higher priority. By default, the value is 0.
In the RP election, the C-RP with the highest priority wins. In the case of the same priority,
the hash values are calculated, and the C-RP with the largest hash value wins. In case of the
same priority and the same hash value, the C-RP with the largest IP address wins.
l holdtime hold-interval: specifies the timeout period during which the BSR waits the
Advertisement message from the C-RP. By default, the value is 150 seconds.
l advertisement-interval adv-interval: specifies the interval at which the C-RP sends
Advertisement messages. By default, the value is 60 seconds.
