To ensure that all RPs on the network can share the source information and the number of
S9300s configured with MSDP peers is minimized, it is recommended to configure the MSDP
peers on the RPs (including static RPs and C-RPs) only on the network.
To ensure that the transmission of SA messages between MSDP peers is not interrupted by the
RPF rule and redundant traffic is minimized, use the following configuration schemes:
l Add all MSDP peers that belong to the same AS to one mesh group.
l Perform either of the following operations on the MSDP peers across ASs:
– Create MBGP peers that use the same interface address.
– Configure the MSDP peers as the static RPF peers of each other.
NOTE
BGP and MBGP can be used to establish the EBGP peer relation. MBGP is recommended because MBGP
does not affect the unicast topology on the network.
Pre-configuration Tasks
Before configuring basic MSDP functions, complete the following tasks:
l Configure the unicast routing protocol to make the IP routes of nodes be reachable.
l Configure the PIM-SM domain and enable multicast in the domain.
Data Preparation
To configure basic MSDP functions, you need the following data.
No.
