7.5 Enclosure
All the components previously described are enclosed in a set of injection-molded plastic
covers. The design of the covers provides both an ergonomically appealing package and
protects the operator or others from harm resulting from the moving components of the
machine. There are five pieces which make up the complete cover assembly: top, drawer,
rear, left side, and right side. Each of these components is secured to a sheet metal frame
attached to the bottom plate of the mill. The design of the covers is such that the majority
of service operations can be addressed by removing just the top cover. Access to the
securing bolts for the top cover is provided by unlocking and opening the drawer. Should
additional access be required, each side panel can easily be removed once the top cover
has been removed. The rear cover can also be easily removed independent of the top
cover. This feature is important in case of malfunction that prevents the normal drawer
unlock procedure. Removing first the rear cover provides an access to unlock the drawer
manually and to remove the top cover retaining screws.
