Verify
1. On mill screen touch Maintenance Icon.
2. Select Advanced and enter passcode.
3. Select Technician Console.
4. Select High Level button.
5. Select the Mechanical Control box.
6. Select the Axis Positions box.
7. If the home sensor was replaced, verify axis homes properly, the steps below.
8. If the limit sensor was replaced, verify proper operation by the following: Move the Y-
axis forward to its limit, verify the LED on the limit sensor goes off once the flag has
entered the sensor. Once the LED has turned off, verify the ‘L’ is displayed to the right
of the Y-axis position value in the Axis Positions Box, this indicates the limit sensor is
activated.
9. Move the carriage outboard off the sensor, the LED on the sensor should illuminate
and the ‘L’ on the display should disappear.
2.13.8 Z-axis home and limit sensor
Use the same procedure for both the Home and Limit sensors.
Replacement, adjustment or disturbance of a Home Sensor or the associated flag
requires subsequent completion of the mill calibration procedure.
Tools required
• 2.5 mm Allen key (for limit sensors)
• small diagonal cutters
• replacement wire ties
Removal
1. Remove top cover and left side panel, see section 2.1 "Mill covers" on page 94.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector for the sensor from the servo interconnect board
and remove cable tie to free cable.
3. Remove the (2) screws securing the Z-axis sensor bracket to the side of the Z-axis rail
mount plate. It may be necessary to remove the drawer in order to access the bottom
screw. Lift the bracket up to allow access to the sensor securing screws.
Once the sensor mount bracket has been removed, all calibration procedures must be
performed.
4. Remove the (2) screws securing the sensor to the sensor mount bracket. Remove the
cable from the plastic p-clip and lift the sensor free of the assembly.
