7. Once the residues have been drained the knob is tightened by rotating it clockwise
until it is tight.
8. Remove the rag or sponge.
9. Reinstall the top and side cover, see instructions in section 2.1 "Mill covers" on page
94.
2.2 Inspecting profile sensor and verifying profile sensor signal
The profile sensor is located in the bottom of the tool changer arm. It is the device which
the PlanMill 40 uses to determine the actual length and diameter of an individual tool
(burr). Refer to section 2.10 "Profile sensor" on page 148 for removal and replacement
instructions if the profile sensor is found to be damaged or the signal is not acceptable.
Tools required

1. Select the Maintenance Icon in the lower left corner of the display.
2. Select Advanced and enter passcode 1234.
3. Select Verify Tools.

4. Use a mirror to inspect the profile for any visible damage from grinding tools (burrs).
Also check the proper alignment of the profile sensor.
5. Remove any debris with a clean swab.
6. Close the lid.
7. Touch the Calibration Values button.
8. Observe the Profiler Signal Level -field of the display.
The value should be less than 800. If the value is higher than 800 repeat the
procedure to remove any debris. If the value remains higher than 800 the profile
sensor must be replaced.
