8. Parameters ABL90 FLEX reference manual
8-40
Step Description
II:
sO
2
> 0.97 (or erroneous) and p50(st) is known.
Coordinates (P
0
, S
0
) are calculated from (p50(st), 0.5)
using equations 46.9 and 46.11.
Reference position of the ODC.
The ODC is shifted from the reference position to pass
through the point (P
0
, S
0
). In this position, the ODC
reflects the p50(st) of the patient, i.e., the particular
patient but at standard conditions.
The ODC is further shifted, as determined by the effect
of the measured parameters ("ac"), to its actual posi-
tion. This position reflects the p50(act) of the patient.
(III):
sO
2
> 0.97 (or erroneous).
Reference position of the ODC.
The position of the actual ODC can now be approxi-
mated from the reference position, using the actual
values of pH, pCO
2
, FCOHb, FMetHb and FHbF to
determine the shift "ac".
NOTICE: The curves are used only to illustrate the principles of the ODC
determination.
