shaft and differential pinion exceeds the service
limit.

4. Tighten the ring gear and differential cage with the
specified tightening torque.

(4.5 – 5.7 kgf.m)
NOTE:
Be sure to use four lock washers at the time of
reassembly of the ring gear as in the front wheel
differential.

(5) Drive pinion ass'y (drive pinion and ring gear)
1. When replacing with new one, adjust in the
following procedure:
Increase or decrease the shims at the back of the
drive pinion bearing by the difference from the error
value marked at the drive pinion end (value
obtained by detecting the error value of the new one
from former one).
For example:
Error value of defective drive pinion: -0.2
Error value of new drive pinion: ±0
-0.2 - (4-0) = -0.2
Decrease the shims by 0.2 mm in this case.
