Usingasteelconduittoprotectthetransducer

Asteelconduitisusedtoprotectthetransducercable.
Itisstronglyrecommendedtolayasteelconduitfromthecableglandabovethetransducer
totheEK80transceiver,andtopullthetransducercablethroughthisconduit.
Thereareseveralreasonsforthis.
Itwillmakeiteasieratalaterstagetoreplacethetransducer.
Itwillprotectthecables.
Noiseandinterferencefromotherelectricalequipmentisgreatlyreduced.
Theriskofoodingisgreatlyreducedwhenthesteelconduitisterminatedabovethe
waterline.
WithasteelconduittheinstallationwillsatisfytheEuropeanUnionregulationsfor
electromagneticcompatibility(EMC)interference.Withoutasteelconduit,thereisariskof
reducedEK80performance.
Steelconduitqualityandshielding
Thesteelconduitmustbeunbrokenandwatertightfromthetransducertoabovethewater
line.Fromthere,thecablecanbepulledfurther,orajunctionboxcanbeinstalledto
facilitatefurtherconnections.
Note
Thesteelconduitmustactasacontinuouselectricalscreenalltheway.
Iftwoormoretransducersareinstalledclosetoeachotheritispossibletopulltheircables
inthesamesteelconduit,providedtheconduitdiameterisincreasedaccordingly.However,
foreasyreplacementitisrecommendedthateachtransducerhasitsownsteelconduit.
Steelconduitminimumdimensions
Thedimensionsofthesteelconduitmustbespeciedand/orveriedbytherelevant
maritimeauthorityand/orclassicationsociety.Theminimumdimensionsare:
35mminnerdiameter
6mmwallthickness(4.5mmifgalvanized)
