AvisualinspectionoftheEK80displayisrequiredtoverifythattheunithasnotbeen
physicallydamagedduringtheinstallation.
ThisprocedureassumesthattheEK80hasbeeninstalledasspeciedintheEK80
Installationmanual.
Youneedthefollowingspecictestequipment:
•Multimeter
Context
Observetheinstallationshipyard’sproceduresforworkmanship,installationofphysical
units,andinstallationandterminationofcables.
ThistestprocedureisonlyapplicablewhenthedisplayisprovidedbySimradasapartof
theEK80delivery.
Procedure
1Verifythatthedisplayisinstalledinthecorrectlocation,andthatitissuitably
orientatedwithrespecttoambientlightconditionsandreections.
2Verifythatthestructuretowhichthedisplayisfastenedissubstantialenoughtohold
theunitsecurelyunderalloperatingconditions.
Ifthedisplayissecuredtoatableorshelf,checkthatitisboltedorweldedsecurelyto
thedeckand/orbulkhead..
3Checkthattheunitissecurelyconnectedtotheship'sgroundwithanearthingstrap.
Thestrapmustbeinadditiontoanyincidentalelectricalcontactmadebythemounting
lugsontheunit.
4Useastandardmultimetertocheckthattheresistancebetweentheunitandtheship's
groundisapproximately0(zero)Ω.
5Checkthephysicalinstallationoftheunit.
aCheckthatthebolts,screwsorstudsholdingtheunitareofthecorrectsize.
bCheckthatthecorrectatandshake-proofwashershavebeenused.
cCheckthatallnutshavebeentightenedproperly.
6Checkthatallweldsandbracketshavebeenpaintedwiththecorrectpreservation
mediumtopreventcorrosion.
7Checkthatallcablesleadingtotheunithavebeenproperlymountedandsecured.
8Verifythatenoughslackhasbeenprovidedonthecablestoallowmaintenanceand
replacement.
