TheEK80reliesoncommunicationbetweeneachsystemunit,andbetweentheEK80and
externaldevices.Itisveryimportantthatallcablesarecorrectlyinstalled,thattheproper
cabletypeshavebeenused,andthatallcablesareconnectedcorrectly.
Prerequisites
•AllEK80hardwareunitshavebeeninstalledaccordingtotherelevantinstructions.
•Allsystemcableshavebeeninstalled.
•Allconnectionshavebeenmade.
•Alloperatingpowerisavailable.
•Allrelevantpersonnel(shipselectrician)andtools(forexamplemultimeterandcable
tester)areavailable.
Forthisprocedureyouwillalsoneedaqualicationtesterwiththeabilitytotestthequality
andbandwidthofEthernetcables.

Procedure
1ForeachcablethatisinusedontheEK80:
aVerifythatthecablehasbeeninstalled.
bVerifythattheconnectionsmadeateachendofthecablearecorrect.
cVerifythatthecablehasbeeninstalledasinstructedinthebasiccablerequirements.
Payspecialattentiontosignalcables.Thesemustnotbeinstalledtooclose
topowercables.
dUseamultimeteroradedicatedcabletestertocheckthecontinuityineachcable.
2UseaqualicationtestertoverifythateachEthernetcableiscorrectlywired,and
meetsthespecicationsrelatedtoqualityandbandwidth.
3Ifirregularitiesarefound,writethesedownintheintheInstallationremarkstable.
