AvisualinspectionoftheEK80ProcessorUnitisrequiredtoverifythattheunithasnot
beenphysicallydamagedduringtheinstallation.
ThisprocedureassumesthattheEK80hasbeeninstalledasspeciedintheEK80
Installationmanual.
Youneedthefollowingspecictestequipment:
•Multimeter
Context
Observetheinstallationshipyard’sproceduresforworkmanship,installationofphysical
units,andinstallationandterminationofcables.
Procedure
1VerifythattheProcessorUnitisinstalledinthecorrectlocation,andthatitissuitably
orientedforreplacementandcabling.
2VerifythatyouhavefreeaccesstorearandfrontsideconnectorsontheProcessor
Unitformaintenancepurposes.
3Verifythatamplespaceisprovidedtoopen/closeDVDand/orCDlids(ifrelevant),
andtoinsertandremoveUSBashdisks.
4VerifythattheProcessorUnitcanbeopened,andthatyouhavefullaccesstothe
interioroftheunit.
5Iftheunitisinstalledinsidearackoraclosedcompartment,checkthatample
ventilationisprovidedtoavoidoverheating.
6Checkthattheunitissecurelyconnectedtotheship'sgroundwithanearthingstrap.
Thestrapmustbeinadditiontoanyincidentalelectricalcontactmadebythemounting
lugsontheunit.
7Useastandardmultimetertocheckthattheresistancebetweentheunitandtheship's
groundisapproximately0(zero)Ω.
8Checkthephysicalinstallationoftheunit.
aCheckthatthebolts,screwsorstudsholdingtheunitareofthecorrectsize.
bCheckthatthecorrectatandshake-proofwashershavebeenused.
cCheckthatallnutshavebeentightenedproperly.
9Checkthatallweldsandbracketshavebeenpaintedwiththecorrectpreservation
mediumtopreventcorrosion.
10Checkthatallcablesleadingtotheunithavebeenproperlymountedandsecured.
