11Verifythatenoughslackhasbeenprovidedonthecablestoallowmaintenanceand
replacement.
12Verifythattheunitisnotphysicallydamaged,andthatthepaint-workisclean.
Thephysicalhandlingoftheunitduringtheinstallationmayhavecausedsome
scratchestothepaint-work.Thiscanbeaccepted.However,ifroughhandlinghas
causedseriousdamagetotheunit,thismustberecordedwithawrittenstatementand
necessaryphotos,sothatcorrectiveactionscanbemade.
13Ifirregularitiesarefound,writethesedownintheintheInstallationremarkstable.
VisualinspectionoftheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)
AvisualinspectionofeachEK80WideBandTransceiver(WBT)isrequiredtoverifythat
theunitshavenotbeenphysicallydamagedduringtheinstallation.
ThisprocedureassumesthattheEK80hasbeeninstalledasspeciedintheEK80
Installationmanual.
Youneedthefollowingspecictestequipment:
•Multimeter
Context
Observetheinstallationshipyard’sproceduresforworkmanship,installationofphysical
units,andinstallationandterminationofcables.
Note
ThestepsinthisproceduremustberepeatedforeachWideBandTransceiver(WBT)thatis
installed.
Procedure
1VerifythattheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)isinstalledinthecorrectlocation,and
thatitissuitablyorientedforeasymaintenanceandreplacementofparts.
2VerifythatyouhavefreeaccesstoalltheconnectorsontheWideBandTransceiver
(WBT)formaintenancepurposes.
3CheckthatthebulkheadstructuretowhichtheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)is
fastenedissubstantialenoughtoholdtheunitsecurelyunderalloperatingconditions.
4Checkthattheunitissecurelyconnectedtotheship'sgroundwithanearthingstrap.
Thestrapmustbeinadditiontoanyincidentalelectricalcontactmadebythemounting
lugsontheunit.
