Minimumcomputerrequirements
AlthoughacomputercanbeorderedfromKongsbergMaritimeasapartoftheEK80
delivery,itisalsopossibletopurchaseonelocally.
Ifyoupurchaseacomputerlocally,makesurethatthechosenmodelmeetsthefunctional
andtechnicalrequirements.
Itisimportanttomakesurethatthechosencomputermodelisrelativelynewwithsufcient
processingpower,ahighperformancegraphicadapter,andahighspeednetworkadapter.
Thecomputermustbeabletofacilitatethevariousinterfacerequirementsmadebythe
EK80,andyoumayneedtoaddextraEthernetandserialadapters.
Note
Thecomputerdesignandconstructionmustallowformaritimeuse,easyaccessto
connectors,partsandcables,andasafeinstallation.
Alaptopcomputermaybeusedaslongasitmeetsthefunctionalandtechnicalrequirements.
Theminimumtechnicalrequirementsare:
•Memorycapacity:Minimum4Gb
•Harddiskcapacity:Ifyouwishtorecordrawdata,youmusteitherinstallalargehard
disk,useperipheralstoragedevices,orconnecttheProcessorUnittotheship’snetwork.
•Graphicadapter:
–Minimumresolutionis1280x1024pixels.
–Recommendedresolutionis1920x1200pixelsorbetter.
•Ethernetadapter(s)
TheProcessorUnitmustofferminimumone1Gb/sEthernetadapter.Twoarerequiredif
theProcessorUnitshallalsobeconnectedtoalocalareanetwork(LAN).
AhighqualityEthernetadapterisrequired.
TheEthernetadaptercommunicatingwiththeWideBandTransceiver(WBT)mustoffer
aReceiveBuffersfunction.Thisparametermustbesettoitsmaximumvalueifmorethan
oneWideBandTransceiver(WBT)isused.
•Ethernetinterfaces:TheProcessorUnitmustofferminimumone1Gb/sEthernetadapter.
TwoarerequirediftheProcessorUnitshallalsobeconnectedtoalocalareanetwork
(LAN).
