Allpermanentlyinstalledcablesassociatedwiththesystemmustbesupportedandprotected
alongtheirentirelengthsusingconduitsand/orcabletrays.
Theonlyexceptiontothisruleisoverthenalshortdistance(maximum.0,5meters)asthe
cablesrunintothecabinets/unitstowhichtheyareconnected.Theseshortserviceloopsare
toallowthecabinetstomoveontheirshockmounts,andtoallowmaintenanceandrepair.
1Whereverpossible,cabletraysmustbestraight,accessibleandplacedsoastoavoid
possiblecontaminationbycondensationanddrippingliquids(oil,etc.).Theymustbe
installedawayfromsourcesofheat,andmustbeprotectedagainstphysicaldamage.
Suitableshieldsmustbeprovidedwherecablesareinstalledinthevicinityofheat
sources.
2Unlessitisabsolutelyunavoidable,cablesshouldnotbeinstalledacrossthevessel's
expansionjoints.Ifthesituationisunavoidable,aloopofcablehavingalength
proportionaltothepossibleexpansionofthejointmustbeprovided.Theminimum
internalradiusoftheloopmustbeatleasttwelvetimestheexternaldiameterofthe
cable.
3Whereaservicerequiresduplicatesupplylines,thecablesmustfollowseparatepaths
throughthevesselwheneverpossible.
4Signalcablesmustnotbeinstalledinthesamecabletrayorconduitashigh-power
cables.
