Unpackingelectronicandelectromechanicalunits
Priortoinstallationoruse,electronicandelectromechanicalunitsmustbeunpackedfrom
theirtransportboxes.Itisimportantthatthisunpackingisdonewithoutinictingdamageto
theequipment.
Prerequisites
Observetheprocedureforunpackingofstandardpartsandunits.
Context
Electronicandelectromechanicalunitswillnormallybewrappedinaclearantistaticplastic
bag.
Donotbreakthesealtoopenacircuitboardpackagebeforetheboardistobeused.Ifthe
boardpackageisreturnedtothemanufacturerwiththesealbroken,thecontentswillbe
assumedtohavebeenusedandthecustomerwillbebilledaccordingly.
Note
Whenyouhandleelectroniccircuitboardsandmodules,youmustbewareofthedangersof
electrostaticdischarge(ESD),bothtoyourselfandtotheequipment.Inordertoensuresafe
transportandstorage,circuitboardsandotherelectronicunitswillalwaysbewrappedin
aclearplasticprotectivebag,andthebagwillbesealed.
Procedure
1Lifttheunit,initsbag,outofthebox.
Note
Cablesmustneverbeusedascarryinghandlesorliftingpoints.
2Placeitinastablepositionontheoororaworkbench.
3Inspecttheunitforvisualdamagebeforeopeningtheantistaticplasticbag.
4Assumingalliswell,openthebagandremovetheunit.
5Ifapplicable,opentheunitandcheckinside.
6Removeanypackinganddesiccantmaterialthatmaybeinsidetheunit.
7Collectandkeeptherelevantusermanualsand/ordocumentsprovidedwiththeunit.
