Theinstallationofthetransducer(ortransducers)isakeytaskforsuccessfulinstallation
oftheEK80Widebandscienticechosounder.Notonlywillyouneedtopenetratethe
vessel’shull,youmustalsotoselectaphysicallocationformaximumperformanceand
minimumacousticandelectricnoise.
Prerequisites
Togetafulloverviewoftheinstallation,youneedallrelevantvesseldrawings.Youalso
needthedrawingsprovidedforeachtransducer.
Context
Necessaryinformationfortheinstallationofeachtransducercanbefoundintheenduser
documentationprovidedwiththetransducer.
Endusermanualsandsourcedrawings(normallyinAutoCadformat)canbedownloaded
fromourwebsite.

Procedure
1Basedontheshapeandpropertiesofthehull,determinethephysicallocationofthe
transducer.
Makesurethatallpossibleconsiderationsaremadetoreducethenoise.
2Basedontheshapeofthetransducerhousing,andthemountingdevicesavailable,
determinetheinstallationmethod.
3Design,manufactureandmountthenecessaryfairing,installationblister,keelbox
and/ortankthatisrequiredtomountthetransducer.
4Design,manufactureandmountthesteelconduitforthetransducercable.
5Unpackthetransducerfromitstransportcrate.
6Positionthetransducerunderthemountinglocation.
7Pullthetransducercableupthroughthesteelconduit.
8Tightenthepackingnutonthecableglandproperlytoavoidleaks.
9Mountthetransducer.
10Sealthetopofthesteelconduittopreventwaterleaks.
11Connectthetransducercabletothetransceiver.
12Ifyourvesselwilloperateinwaterswithalotofmarinegrowth,considerapplying
athinlayerofanti-foulingpainttothetransducerface.
