Theidenticationcodesshouldbepositionedonthecableinsuchawaythattheyarereadily
visibleafterallpanelshavebeentted.
Inaddition,eachcableconductorshouldbemarkedwiththeterminalboardnumberor
sockettowhichitisconnected.
Cableglandsandterminationprocedures
Cableglandsareusedtoattachandsecuretheendofacabletotheequipment.Cableglands
mayalsobeusedforsealingcablespassingthroughbulkheadsorglandplates.
Aboutcableglands
Cableglandsareusedwheneveracablepassesthroughawatertightbulkheadorintoa
cabinet,tosealtheopeningthroughwhichthecablepassesandtoprotectthecablefrom
abrasionontheedgesofthehole.
Therearemanydifferenttypesofcableglandonthemarket.Thecableglandsarenot
suppliedwiththesystem.

EventhoughthecabinetsfromKongsbergMaritimemaybepreparedforspecictypesof
cableglands,theinstallationshipyardwillberesponsibleforselectingcableglandtypes
andinstallingthem.
Acablegland(intheU.S.moreoftenknownasacableconnectorortting)isadevice
designedtoattachandsecuretheendofacabletotheequipment.Acablegland
providesstrain-reliefandconnectsbyameanssuitableforthetypeanddescriptionof
cableforwhichitisdesigned—includingprovisionformakingelectricalconnectionto
thearmourorbraidandleadoraluminiumsheathofthecable,ifany.Cableglands
mayalsobeusedforsealingcablespassingthroughbulkheadsorglandplates.
Cableglandsaremechanicalcableentrydevicesandcanbeconstructedfrommetallicor
non-metallicmaterials.Theyareusedthroughoutanumberofindustriesinconjunction
withcableandwiringusedinelectricalinstrumentationandautomationsystems.
Cableglandsmaybeusedonalltypesofelectricalpower,control,instrumentation,
dataandtelecommunicationscables.Theyareusedasasealingandtermination
