1. Brush holder
To ease end frame installation, retain brush holder
with a small screwdriver while installing armature
assembly.
CAUTION: Make sure to place two end hous-
ings on a flat surface before tightening the
through bolts.
CAUTION: Make sure end frame fits perfectly
on yoke.
INSTALLATION
– Usenewteflonwashersonthe3boltsretaining
starter to engine.
– Torque the bolts to 28 N•m(20lbf•ft).
– Make sure that starter and engine mating sur-
faces are free of grime. Serious trouble may
arise if starter is not properly aligned.
– Connect the RED battery cable and the RED
wire to the large terminal of the starter.
WARNING
Always disconnect ground cable first and
connect last.
– Torque large terminal nut to 7 N•m(62lbf•in).
– Connect ground cable to the starter with star
washer in between.
– Torque ground cable connecting bolt to 11 N•m
(97 lbf•in).
