Tractor control module
4520 series machines are equipped with either a Tractor Control System (TCS) or a
Tractor Control Module (TCM). Both are located behind the dash next to the hydraulic
fluid tank.
The TCM is a sealed computerized device designed to control the electronic safety
related functions of this machine. Both solid state and mechanical components are
used to ensure the safe, reliable operation of the machine.
The TCM monitors the electronic circuits necessary for the engine, the starter, and
the PTO to function. These input circuits include the PTO switch, the neutral switch,
the parking brake switch, the ignition switch, the seat switch, and the generator
presence. The TCM is programmed to allow the engine, the starter, or the PTO to
operate only when specific input criteria are satisfied. The engine, the starter, and the
PTO are controlled by outputs from the TCM.
