4520P Removing the Exhaust System
CAUTION
The engine and exhaust system may be hot. To avoid possible burns, allow the
engine to cool before working on the engine.
1. Remove attachments from the machine.
2. Park the machine on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and remove the
key from the ignition.
3. Remove the hood and grill assembly; refer to Removing and Installing the Hood,
page 7–13 Removing and Installing the Grill, page 7–14.
4. Remove the right engine cover; refer to Removing and Installing the Engine
Covers, page 7–14.
5. Remove the muffler heat shield Figure 8, item 5.
6. Remove the muffler Figure 8, item 1 from the engine retain the hardware, and
discard gaskets.
7. Remove any gasket material from the muffler, manifold, or cylinder head.
