Transportation 9960 Self-Propelled Peanut Combine
110 06/03/05 MAN091
Before Transporting
Before you take your combine out on the
roads, check with local laws for the
following:
• Width - make sure your combine fits
within the width laws of your locale
before taking it on public roads. The
combine is approximately 203 inches
(516 cm) wide.
• Flashing lights – Flashing warning lights
and tail lights provide a warning to
operators of vehicles approaching from
the front and rear. Use the combine’s
flashing warning lights whenever you
drive on public roads UNLESS your
locale prohibits the use of flashing lights.
Drive with Caution
Use good driving sense when driving or
towing your combine. Drive cautiously, as
dictated by an oversized, slow moving
vehicle. Help prevent collisions with other
vehicles by being aware of other vehicles at
all times. Frequently check for traffic from
the rear, especially when turning.
Follow local regulations for lighting and
marking your combine. Make sure all
lighting and markings are visible and kept in
good working order. Replace or repair any
damaged lights or markings before taking
your machine out on the road.
•
Sound the horn before starting the
engine to clear people away from the
combine.
•
Use reasonable speeds for road or
field conditions.
• Always use warning lights
appropriate for day and night use.
•
Never transport on the road with the
header on.
•
Never drive on the road with peanuts in
the basket.
• Always fasten seat belts
operator and passenger.
• Drive with care –
size and height of the combi
going around curves or making turns.
• Always use hand signals or
signals. (They are not self-canceling.)
