CAUTION
Sulfuric acid in battery electrolytes is
poisonous. It is strong enough to burn
skin, eat through clothing, and cause
blindness.
Avoid battery acid hazards by doing t
he
following:
1. Fill batteries only in well-
ventilated
areas.
2.
ALWAYS wear eye protection and
rubber gloves capable of withstanding
caustic chemicals.
3.
Avoid breathing fumes when
electrolyte is added.
4. Avoid spilling or dripping electrolyte.
If you spill acid on yourself, act quickly:
2. Flush your skin with water.
3.
Apply baking soda or lime to help
neutralize the acid.
4. Flush your eyes for 15-30 minutes.
1. Get medical attention immediately.
If acid is swallowed:
1. Do NOT induce vomiting.
2.
Drink large amounts of water or milk,
but do NOT exceed 2 liters (2 quarts).
3. Get medical attention immediately.
Battery posts, terminals, and related
accessories contain lead and lead
compounds. ALWAYS WASH HANDS
AFTER HANDLING.
