Operator’s Station 9960 Self-Propelled Peanut Combine
26 06/03/05 MAN091
Header Engage/Header Reverse
For momentary operation of the header, press
and pull back the header engage switch. This
starts
the header auger and pickup, which
runs as long as the switch is depressed. As
with the latched position: if the header reverse
foot switch is pressed while the header
engage switch is held in the momentary
position, the pick up will stop and the auger
will run in the direction opposite from feeding.
This is used to remove jammed material.
The operator must be seated to operate the
header. If the operator leaves the seat after
the header is engaged, it will continue to
operate
for five seconds before it disengages.
To re-engage, sit in the seat, and turn the
switch off and then back on. If the header fails
to engage or stops suddenly, sit squarely on
the seat, turn the switch off, and then turn
back on to re-engage.
Header reverse is controlled by the header
reverse foot switch. To unplug the header:
1. Stop the forward motion of the combine.
2. Press the header reverse switch to run the
header auger in reverse and free any
“plug.”
3. Release the switch as soon as the “plug” is
backed out. The header will return to
feeding rotation.
4. Allow the feeder house to clear the “plug”
material before continuing forward.
5. Resume harvesting. Do NOT attempt to
force “plugs” through by repeated cycling
of reversing drive. Repeated cycling
shortens the life of components. If a “plug”
will not clear with one or two reverses, it
will be necessary to manually remove it.
