Removing
Note

When the subframe is replaced only: Lever Control System
Sensor Removing and Installing, refer to
⇒ “3.3 Vehicle Level Sensor, Removing and Installing”, page
141 .
– With vehicles with air suspension, place vehicle on hoist, refer
to ⇒ “4 Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels”, page 10 .
– Remove wheels.
– Remove rear portion of exhaust system, refer to ⇒ Rep. Gr.
26 .
– Disconnect all electrical wires from body to rear axle.
Vehicles with Air Suspension
– Clean area around wiring connection.
– Remove left and air supply line and seal off connections. Make
sure that no dust particles enter connections.
Continuation for All Vehicles
– Remove brake cable from rear axle, refer to ⇒ Rep. Gr. 46 .
– Remove driveshaft from rear final drive and tie up, refer to ⇒
Rep. Gr. 39 .
– Remove left and right brake caliper -1- and tie it with an wire
-2- at brake line bracket -3-.
– If equipped, remove stone impact protection from subframe.
WARNING
Before loosening subframe bolts, secure vehicle against tip‐
ping over (e.g. load luggage compartment with approximately
50 kg).
