5.4.4.7 Operation 37. Check of air-tightness of all connections of air cleaner and in-
take duct
To check air tightness, use a device KI-4870 GOSNITI. If such equipment is not
available, check the connections for air-tightness visually. Damaged connecting elements
shall be replaced. Tighten the intake duct clamp bolts if necessary.
Tighten the intake duct clamps with a torque of 5.5 to 10 Nm.
DO NOT OPERATE THE TRACTOR WITH A LEAKY INTAKE DUCT.
Depressurization of the air supply circuit to the intake manifold may have a negative impact
on the reliability of the clogging indicator readings, as a result a significant amount of uncleaned
air containing a high concentration of dust can enter the cylinders, and thus it will get into oil, which
will lead to accelerated wear of the engine cylinder-piston group.
5.4.4.8 Operation 38. Checking oil level in brake housings
It is necessary to check the oil level in the right and left brake housings.
To check the oil level in right brake housing 2 (figure 5.4.46), do the following:
- place the tractor on a flat horizontal area, apply the parking brake and block the wheels
from moving in front and behind with wheel chocks to prevent spontaneous movement of the trac-
tor. The engine must be off;
- unscrew check/fill plug 4 (figure 5.4.46);
- oil level must reach threaded opening of plug 4;
- if necessary, add fresh oil to the level of the lower edge of the opening of check/fill plug 4;
- put plug 4 in place and tighten.
In the same way, you need to check the oil level in the left brake housing. If necessary, top
up.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL TO AVOID CONTACT WITH HOT OIL AND HOT SURFACES
OF THE BRAKE HOUSINGS!
5.4.4.9 Operation 39. Checking/adjusting gap between valves and rocker arms of the en-
gine
Check and, if necessary, adjust the clearances between the valves and rocker arms every
500 hours of operation, and also after removing the cylinder head and when there is a knock on
the valves.
The gap between the rocker arm and the end of the valve stem when checked on an un-
heated diesel engine (the temperature of water and oil should be no more than 70 ºС) should be:
intake valves and exhaust valves -

05,

+
mm.
When adjusting the gap between the end of the valve stem and the rocker arm on an un-
heated diesel engine, you should set as follows: intake valves and exhaust valves - 0.25
+ 0.05
mm.
Adjust in the following sequence:
- remove the cap of the cylinder head cover (view A, figure 5.4.37) and check the fastening
of the rocker arm shaft bracket;
- turn the crankshaft until the valves in the first cylinder are shut (the intake valve of the first
cylinder starts to open, and the exhaust valve closes) and adjust the gaps in the fourth, sixth, sev-
enth and eighth valves (counting from the fan), then turn the crankshaft by one turn to shut valves
in the fourth cylinder, and adjust the gaps in the first, second, third and fifth valves;
- to adjust the gap, loosen the locknut of the screw on the rocker arm of the adjustable valve
(view B, figure 5.4.37) and, turning the screw, set the required gap between the rocker arm and
the end of the valve stem according to the probe. After setting the gap, tighten the locknut. After
adjusting the valve gap, put the cylinder head cover cap back.
