5.4.4.10 Operation 40. Check of oil level in wheel gear group housings and in FDA
main gear housing.
Before checking oil level in wheel gear group housings and in FDA main gear hous-
ing, place the tractor on a flat horizontal surface. The diesel engine shall be stopped. En-
gage the parking brake and put wheel chocks at the front and back of the rear wheels to
prevent movement.
To check oil level in wheel gear group housings and the housing of FDA main gear
with planetary-spur wheel gear groups, do the following:
- to check oil level in the wheel gear group housings, unscrew level/fill plugs 1 (fig-
ure 5.4.38) in wheel gear group housing 2;
- make sure that oil level coincides with bottom edges of the openings of level/fill
plugs 1;
- if necessary, top up oil to reach the necessary level;
- put level/fill plugs 1 back in their places.

- to check oil level in the main gear housing, unscrew level/fill plug 1 (figure 5.4.39)
of one of the tubes of axle beam 2;
- make sure that the oil level coincides with the lower edge of the opening of level/fill
plug 1;
- if necessary, top up oil to reach the necessary level;
- put level/fill plug 1 back.
