5.4.5.4 Operation 47. Oil change in the FDA main gear housing and FDA wheel gear
group housings
Before changing the oil, warm up the oils in the main gear housing and in the wheel
gear group housings of the FDA to normal operating temperature by driving the tractor for five
to fifteen minutes, depending on the ambient temperature.
Then place the tractor on a level flat ground. The engine must be off. Engage the park-
ing brake and block the rear wheels from moving with wheel chocks at the front and at the
back.
To change oil in the FDA housings, do the following:
- unscrew check-filler plugs 1 (figure 5.4.47) of both wheel gear groups 3, check-filler
plugs 5 in right and left tubes 6 of the FDA beam, as well as drain plugs 2 of both wheel gear
groups and drain plug 4 of the main gear housing, and drain oil into a special container for
used oil;
- put back drain plugs 2 and 4;
- fill wheel gear group housings 3 with fresh oil up to the lower edges of check-filler
openings 1;
- fill the main gear housing with oil through check-filler opening 5 in one of tubes 6 of
the axle beam, fill in this opening until the oil in the other tube reaches the lower edge of the
check-filler opening;
- put back the check-filler plugs of the wheel gear group housings and the main gear
housing.

5.4.5.5 Operation 48. Flushing the engine breather
The filter of breather 2 (figure 5.4.48) of engine 3 must be washed with diesel fuel. To
do this, remove the breather housing, remove the breather from the housing, rinse it and blow
it with compressed air. Assemble the breather and reinstall.
