Following installation of the shielding, the function of the locking
mechanism has to be tested periodically, depending on the operat-
ing conditions. The function check has to be carried out every six
months and recorded.
Open shielding
After the shielding has been installed, it may be opened only for
commissioning. Open the transportation safety device and open
the lock. Now use the lever fixed to the base by adhesive tapes and
insert it into the borehole for the locking mechanism. Open the
beam path by turning the lever right all the way to the right limit
stop.
This position can now be locked again with the padlock to prevent
inadvertent closing of the beam path during operation. If locking by
the lock should not be permitted, you may also fix the position with
the supplied screw.
Pneumatic actuator As an option, point source shieldings may be supplied with a pneu-
matic actuator. You find the technical data in section "6.5.2 Point
Source Shielding LB 744X with Pneumatic Actuator" on page 2–
275.

Lever for opening the source shielding
During transportation, the lever is fixed to the shielding
by adhesive tape. With the lever, the shielding can be
turned to the OPEN or CLOSED position.
