3 Device-specific Menus Volume 6
HV SETTINGS Tab
Number of Probes a Total number of Uni-Probes used in the measuring system.
Example:
If one Main Unit and two Auxiliary Units are connected, you have to enter
the number of detectors = 3.
Parameters Input Description
Parameters Input Description
HV Setup a (Only for test purposes)
Enter a fixed HV between 300V and 1300V.
IMPORTANT
Reset the value to “0” as soon as the test is finished.
HV Default a This value is defaulted by the manufacturer and has to be set new only
after replacement of the detector or the multiplier. After power failure, the
Uni-Probe starts with this HV. Thus, the Uni-Probe quickly adjusts to the
operating point. This is important especially for rod detectors, which oth-
erwise would need approx. 30 minutes for adjustment of the HV.
The HV default value also reduces the available HV range in the HV auto
mode from -20% to +40% of the HV default values. This prevents the HV
from deviating too far from the plateau even if the control should fail.
Example:
HV Default is set to 700V.
In this case the HV does not exceed 980V and does not drop below 560V.
If you have entered a HV default value of0”, the reduced HV-range is not
active, a range from 300V to 1300V is valid. In this case the start value is
always “0V”.
If you restore the factory settings, the detector code will be retained. After
replacement of the scintillator or multiplier you have to determine the new
value. This is done by transferring the self-adjusted HV value to the HV
Default. A rod detector needs 30 minutes to adjust and a point detector 5
minutes after power on.
HV Reading ~ Shows the HV READING value.
HV Mode ~ The auto mode controls the HV and thus compensates for sensitivity vari-
ations due to temperature and ageing of the Uni-Probe.
If the HV value = 0, the HV mode is set to Auto. If you set a value
between 300 and 1300 V in the HV READING text box, then the HV mode
is set to Manual.
Following a RESET (factory settings), the HV mode is set to auto.
