Shift Actuator Removal
Remove the gearcase, refer to Gearcase
Removal on p. 361.
Remove the six screws retaining the shift actuator
to the gearcase housing.
Lightly tap the shift actuator with a soft mallet to
loosen it. Then slide the shift actuator forward and
lift to remove.
Remove the shift actuator seal and discard it.
Remove all old gasket sealing compound from the
shift actuator and gearcase housing.

NOTICE
Check shift rod height BEFORE installing the
shaft actuator. Refer to Shift Rod Adjustment
on p. 368.
NOTICE
Use Evinrude Diagnostics software (version
6.1 or later) to calibrate the shift actuator
when installing a new gearcase or shift actua-
tor. Failure to calibrate the shift actuator can
result in damage to the shift actuator.
