Gearcase Disassembly (Standard Rotation)

and turn the nut clockwise remove the propeller
shaft.
Remove propeller shaft assembly, then remove
the forward gear from the gearcase.
IMPORTANT: When the propeller shaft is re-
moved, the clutch dog shift shaft will be removed
with the propeller shaft. This will damage the shift
lever and shift cradle. do NOT re-use these parts.
After the propeller shaft is removed, remove the
forward gear, thrust bearing and thrust washer.
Shift Housing Removal
Use Puller Tool, P/N 358520, with Puller Jaws,
P/N 432129, and Puller Wrench, P/N 334359, to
remove the shifter housing.
Align the puller jaws beneath the shifter housing in
the position shown.
Use the puller wrench to hold the puller jaws in
position, while tightening the puller rod with a
wrench.
Place the puller plate over the rod and install the
puller nut. Use a wrench to hold the rod, while
turning the puller nut with a wrench.
