Gearcase
Shifter, Bearing and Seal Servicing
When the shifter housing is released from the
gearcase housing, use the puller tool to remove
the bearing housing from the gearcase.
Remove the tool from the shifter housing.
Remove bearing rollers and any other parts from
the gearcase housing.
Water Intake Screens
Remove and clean side water intake screens.
Replace if damaged.

Pinion Bearing Removal
Assemble the following components of the Pinion
Bearing Remover and Installer, P/N 5005927, in
the gearcase as follows:
Use a 7/8 in. wrench to hold the remover in place.
Use a 3/4 in. wrench to turn flange nut clockwise.
Draw the bearing up from the housing.
Pinion Bearing Installation
Apply gear lubricant to the housing bore and the
outside diameter of the bearing race. Assemble
