Remove the Lifting Fixture, P/N 357667, from the
flywheel.
Install the thread protector into the flywheel
threads. Then install the 3.5 inch plug into the air
duct. Next install the 4 inch plug into the center
frame.
Install the top cover.
Fill and bleed the hydraulic steering system.
Refer to Filling and Bleeding the Hydraulic
Steering System on p. 48.
Stern Bracket Service
Removal
IMPORTANT:
BEFORE beginning this proce-
dure, make sure the outboard it tilted fully down.
The trim rod and roller assemblies MUST be fully
retracted into the trim cylinders.
Remove the engine from the stern and swivel
bracket assembly. Refer to Removal on p. 334.
Next, loosen the manual release valve and tilt the
swivel bracket up slightly. Close the manual
release valve. Make sure the trim rollers are NOT
touching the ramps.
If the trim rollers are touching the ramps, hydraulic
pressure will make removal of the stern bracket(s)
difficult.
Then remove the stern and swivel assembly from
the boat.
Remove the four screws from each spray plate
cover and remove the spray plate cover.s
Remove two screws from the bottom of the spray
plate and the two upper screws retaining the spray
NOTICE
Install plugs as indicated. Plugs MUST be
installed to prevent water entry and/or engine
performance issues.
Make sure plugs are securely installed to pre-
vent loosening during engine operation.
