Appendix U. CDM-625A FTP
MODEM-TO-MODEM
CONFIGURATION
U.1 Overview
Comtech EF Data provides the means, using File Transfer Protocol (FTP), to quickly “clone” the
configuration of a “sourceCDM-625A Advanced Satellite Modem (Modem ‘A’) to any “target
CDM-625A (Modem ‘B’) on a per-modem basis. This allows consistent network setup with
minimum effort.
All Base Modem configuration parameters are stored in a simple text file that you may create
using FTP. This configuration file contains a series of commands that encapsulate the source
modems configurationyou should not manually edit this file except as noted. You may then
transfer this parameter file by FTP to quickly configure the target modem(s) as needed.
1)
You may proceed with the FTP Modem-to-Modem Configuration procedure assuming that:
A. The Source (Modem ’A’) and Target (Modem ‘B’) modems are running the latest
available firmware versions (see Chapter 4. UPDATING FIRMWARE).
B. The Source (Modem ’A’) and Target (Modem ‘B’) modemsEthernet ports are
connected to the Ethernet ports of any user-supplied, Windows-based PC (Windows
XP or Windows 7) using user-supplied hub, switch, or direct Ethernet cable
connections, and the User PC is running a compatible Web browser (e.g., Internet
Explorer) for use of the CDM-625 HTTP (Web Server) Interface.
C. The Source (Modem ’A’) and Target (Modem ‘B’) modems’ “Remote Control” ports are
connected to the User PC serial port(s), and the User PC is running a terminal
emulator program such as PuTTY or HyperTerminal for use of the Serial Remote
Product Management Interface.
2) If you are using a CDM-625A Advanced Satellite Modem with an installed and enabled
optional IP Packet Processor, this procedure is available only if you log in with
Administrative privileges.
