IP
Internet Protocol.
IP address
An identifier for a computer or device on an Internet Protocol (IP) network. Networks using IP
route messages based on the IP address of the destination. An IP address is a 32-bit number
written in dotted decimal notation: four 8-bit sections, separated by periods, converted from
binary to decimal. Each section is a number from zero to 255.
IRD
Integrated receiver decoder. A device that combines the capability of receiving satellite
transmissions and decoding MPEG-2 transport stream packets.
ISA
Interactive Services Architecture
ISO index value
A pointer value into the list of language abbreviations documented in ISO-639. Current values
are online at
http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/langhome.html.
ITU
International Telecommunication Union, a United Nations organization facilitating
standardization of telecommunications and radio/television. It issues documents from either
group as “ITU-T” or “ITU-R” recommendations.

joint stereo
Joint stereo signals have a high degree of commonality between the left and right signals which
can improve the amount of compression.

LC
A term meaning either “low complexity” (in the case of AAC audio coding) or a high-density
optical connector used for single-mode and multimode fiber-optic applications.
LFE
Low-Frequency Effects.
Loader Utility
A tool for saving the device configuration and for uploading it to any device.
