CP
Crypto Period. A parameter specifying the period during which data is scrambled with a particular
Control Word (“key”).
CPE
Customer Premises Equipment.
crosstalk
The interference of a signal from an adjacent signal.
CRT
Cathode Ray Tube.
Cue Tone
A sequence of audio tones (typically DTMF tones) used to prompt an action.
CW
Control Word. A value that the CAS generates to scramble the program data stream.
CWG
Control Word Generator. Generates the encryption key.

The continuous flow of information from one location to another
data stream
The continuous flow of information from one location to another.
datacast
A system that inserts data into an MPEG-2 Transport Stream and enables high bit-rate data
download and recovery at the receiver. The data can be related to the video/audio elementary
streams.
datagram packing
Datagram packing places datagram sections back-to-back within the payloads of TS packets.
Adaptation field stuffing and section stuffing are not performed, and datagrams are not aligned to
the beginning of the
TS packet payload.
datagram section
An MPEG-2 section that consists of a datagram header, payload, and a checksum or cyclic
redundancy check (CRC). The maximum size of a section is 4096 bytes with a variable size
header
, depending on the type of data.
