CAM
Acronym for CA Module and is a standardized card which is used to unscramble services.

carrier frequency range
For a receiver, the range of valid input signals.
CAS
Conditional Access System. Scrambles the programming material and allows conditional access to
the descrambled information on the basis of subscriber authorization. In consumer applications,
CAS allows access to certain programs on the basis of a monetary exchange. In commercial
applications, CAS allows controlled access to proprietary programs.
CAT
Conditional Access Table. The CAT informs the receiver of conditional access system (CAS)
information, such as the
EMM stream for provisioning the receiver.
CBR
Constant Bit Rate.
CC
Closed Captions or Continuity Counter. Readers are cautioned to avoid use of this abbreviation
unless it is clearly stated in context.

Consumer Electronics Association.

Line 21 Data Services.
CEA-708
Digital Television (DTV) Closed Captioning.
