To select a digital I/O format:
Make sure that all cabling is connected properly.
Press the key on the Session Controller or on the KC-24 or use the , the
and keys and the key to go to the MAIN MENU / I/O MENU / DIG IN FORMAT
menu and press the key.
Use the and keys to select the digital format of and press the key.
When a digital input format is specified one track must always be set to digital. To return all
24 tracks to analogue input select NONE.
NONE
This selection returns all 24 inputs to analogue input.
AES/EBU 2-CH
This 2-channel format uses a single cable for 2 channels of digital audio transmission. It is unidirectional
so one cable is required for input and one for output.
S/PDIF 2-CH
S/PDIF also uses a single cable for 2 channels of digital audio transmission. It is unidirectional as well so
one cable is required for input and one for output. It is essentially a consumer version of AES/EBU.
AES MULTI-CH
With multi-channel AES/EBU each cable carries eight channels. This format is bi-directional so only three
cables are required for 24 channels of digital audio I/O.
TDIF
TDIF also uses three bi-directional cables carrying eight channels of audio each, for a total of 24 channels
of digital I/O.
ADAT
Lightpipe optical fibers carry eight channels of digital audio. This format is unidirectional so three input
and three output Lightpipe “cables” will be required for 24 channels of ADAT
I/O.
MADI
Each BNC connector or Optical connector carries 24 channels of audio. Either COAXIAL or OPTICAL
must be chosen in the SYNC MENU depending on the inputs/outputs of the external device.
If a particular card is not installed a dialogue will display: NO ________ CARD
INSTALLED.
