Regular Inspection and Maintenance
We recommend regular inspections by a Mitutoyo service engineer to maintain optimal per-
formance of the testing machine over an extended period.

Inspection Items
Periodically check the items in the table below for each test.
Inspections of these items at least once a week are recommended.

1 Indenter Dirt on the tip of
the indenter
Wipe with a dry cloth. Be careful not to bend the
tip of the loading arm.
2 Anvils Rust Remove rust from the sur-
face.
Be careful not to touch the
indenter.
3 Test block Hardness test Measure the test block. Be careful not to scratch or
dirty the test block.
4 Display unit Dirt on the display
panel
Wipe with a dry cloth. Do not use a pointed object
when cleaning.
5 Vertical shaft Movement of the
up/down handle
Apply oil to the vertical shaft.

cal Shaft" (page H-4).
Completely wipe away the
old oil before applying fresh
oil.
