Procedure
1Checkthecartonbeforeopeningittoensureitshowsnosignsofdropping,immersion
inwaterorothermishandling.
1Ifexternaldamageisdetected,opentheboxtocheckitscontents.
2Requestthatarepresentativeofthecarriertobepresentwhiletheboxisopened,
soanytransportationdamagecanbeidentiedanddocumented.
3Ifaunithasbeendamaged,prepareaninspectionreportstatingthecondition
oftheunitandactionstaken.
Describethedamage,andcollectphotographicevidenceifpossible.Returnthe
inspectionreporttoKongsbergMaritimeassoonaspossible.
2Placetheboxonastableworkbenchorontheoorwiththetopoftheboxfacing
upwards.
3Intheabsenceofotherinstructions,alwaysopenthetopofthecartonrst.
Thecontentsoftheboxwillnormallyhavebeenloweredintothecartonfromabove,
sothiswillusuallybetheeasiestroutetofollow.Becarefulwhenyouopenthebox,
andmakesurethatthecontentsarenotdamaged.Donotuseaknifetoopencardboard
boxes.
4Iftheboxhasbeenclosedusingstaples,removethestaplesfromthecartonasyou
openit.
Thiswillreducethepossibilitiesofscratchinjurytoyourselfanddamagetothe
contents.
5Ifawoodenboxhasbeenclosedusingscrews,alwaysremovethemusingascrewdriver.
Donotattempttoforcethelidopenwithacrowbarorsimilartool.
6Oncethecartonisopen,carefullyremoveallloosepackingandinsulationmaterial.
7Checkforusermanualsandotherdocumentsthatmayhavebeenaddedtothecarton
duringpacking.
8Checkalsoforspecialtools,doorkeysetc.
