Starter Motor Removal and Installation

Removal
1) Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the
battery (–) lead wire. Refer to “Battery Removal and
Installation in Section 1J (Page 1J-12)”.
2) Remove the starter motor lead wire (1).
3) Remove the starter motor (2).
Installation
1) Apply grease to the starter motor O-ring.
: Grease 99000–25010 (SUZUKI SUPER
GREASE A or equivalent)
CAUTION
!
Replace the O-ring with a new one.
2) Install the starter motor.
3) Tighten the starter motor mounting bolts (1) to the
specified torque. Refer to “Wiring Harness Routing
Diagram in Section 9A (Page 9A-5)”.
NOTE
Fit the clamp to the bolt “A”.
Tightening torque
Starter motor mounting bolt (a): 10 N·m (1.0 kgf-
m, 7.0 lbf-ft)
4) Tighten the starter motor lead wire mounting nut (2)
to the specified torque. Refer to “Wiring Harness
Routing Diagram in Section 9A (Page 9A-5)”.
Tightening torque
Starter motor lead wire mounting nut (b): 6 N·m (
0.6 kgf-m, 4.5 lbf-ft)
Starter Motor Disassembly and Assembly

Disassembly
Disassemble the starter motor as shown in the starter
motor components diagram. Refer to “Starter Motor
Components (Page 1I-3)”.
